IB Physics 1IB Physics 1 is the first year of a two-year IB Diploma course. We teach the course at higher level, culminating with the HL exam in May of year 2. The rigor of the course and the expectation that students will be able to work independently throughout the two years are rewarded with a 1.0 grade point boost for each year.

ContentIB Physics 1 covers the topics one would find in an introductory physics course: motion, forces, energy and momentum, gravity, electricity, electric circuits and waves/vibrations. Some of these topics are covered in more depth than one would see in an honors physics course. There is no SOL exam for physics and IB Physics 1 fulfills the graduation requirement of a third laboratory science.
